Literature Text

Took a sip of hot cocoa,
its dark velvety taste
lulls my senses -
    like a child's quilt
    at nighttime.

As my weary eyes gaze
at the purple orange sunset sky,
chilly winds sing along
with the crisp rustling croon
of scattered leaves on the pavement.
Swirling, dancing -
nostalgic of what they once were.

Ah, such wistful sight paints
the prelude to a winter storm.
Misty dew, frosty nights -
     turning those weather-beaten hearts
     into fragile glass.

I emptied my cup -
     savoring, cherishing every drop.
Bittersweet, persistent,
     lingering...
     enduring.

The warmth envelopes me -
     like a promising flame
     of a rekindled candle,
leaving me hopeful
     for a blissful spring
     to come soon.

I love the smooth strokes you use to paint your imagery in the reader's mind. Wonderful job with this! :)
